GRANDMA'S LEMON SAGO
3/4 cup sago, 2 cups water, 1/2 cup lemon juice, 2 tlbs sugar, 1 tlbs honey or golden syrup.
Bring water to the boil, add sago and stir until the mixture boils then simmer until cooked (15-20 mins, sago will become nearly completely transparent) Add lemon juice, sugar and golden syrup,
cook for 2 more minutes. Traditionally served cold with
cream or custard, but can be served warm straight out of the pot!!! Great with vanilla
ice cream.
I have never tried, but writing this makes me think that this would also be a successful
camp recipe.
